So yes, I caved to the trend! I’m talking about the feather extension. I mean what more free peace sign worthy and hippie chic than a feather in your hair? And when I say extension, I mean clamped in not clipped on, attached (semi) permanently, extension. So here’s the low down on the pros.
I had them put in at A New Image Spa and Salon off Conroy-Windermere Road. and these feathers are the good stuff. They are clamped on to the root of your hair, you can wash them, straighten them, curl them…you name it. I strategically placed mine under a few a few layers of hair so that when needed they could be easily hidden, or I can braid back my hair and show them off loud and proud. I’ve had them in for 3 weeks, and they still look brand new!

As I am typing this, I am bouncing on my ball and wondering if I am in early labor. There is no way of knowing until things either progress or die off. But my fingers are crossed that this baby is on his or her way!! I have been having major diarrhea (GROSS) and back pains coming in waves for the past two hours now. I’ll have contractions mixed in there too. But it could all be nothing. I don’t want to get my hopes up!
To take my mind off of things, I’m just going to start rambling. Don’t you just love me!?! My midwife flew back in from England on Monday night and my Mom arrived Wednesday afternoon! That would mean that we are ready for this baby to come. I’m only 38 weeks 5 days. So again, this could all just be nothing!
My mom drove the seven hours up yesterday and has been enjoying every moment with Scarlett so far. I don’t know who is happier, my mom or Scarlett! Scarlett is THRILLED to have Mimi here. She only sees her every few months and on skype, so her being here for the next 3 weeks will be wonderful for Scarlett. We visited the library today and checked out a bunch of DVDs and books to entertain Scarlett with. I checked out two new books in hopes that I’ll have time to read while nursing this baby. I read more than I ever had in my life when Scarlett was a newborn. However, I didn’t have a toddler to chase after. I’m hoping that I have SOME time to read when this one arrives.
I am getting more and more nervous about post-partum depression. I’m actually going to talk to a counselor about it here in the next week. With the move, not having friends here yet, finances sucking, baby #2 arriving, and John’s work schedule, I’m just already feeling a bit of the blues. I do not want them to continue or to worsen. The only way to help this is to be proactive. So that’s my plan. John is supportive and is helping me find someone to talk to. I think it will help for me to “type it out” too. So you all may get a taste of my emotions here soon! I hope you will still like me!
Off to bed. Whether I sleep or not is another question. No worries though; I will make sure to update my column before posting it! J
It is August 5, 2011 – and we welcomed to the world EMMETT WILLIAM this morning at 8:00am on the dot! He weighed in at 7lbs 11oz and 20 inches long!!! I will type up my birth story for you soon!!

If life is a juggling act, we keep being thrown balls to toss into the mix! We are now in battle with the owner of this house for reimbursement of the water and A/C issues. He is refusing to pay them! I am floored. We are so great to the renters in our house back in Florida; you would think that karma would be good to us, but apparently not so much. UGH. So while trying to deal with that, John is starting the construction of his new project this week. He loves what he does, but during the first 6 weeks or so of a new project, we see him as often as a solar eclipse. Of course the timing just happens to fall right when baby is due! Life is literally crazy at this moment.

Can you believe that it took over a WEEK to have our air fixed in the Savannah house? Well, believe it! It was finally fixed yesterday evening. I decided to take Scarlett and the dog (Matilda) down to Jacksonville and stay with the In-laws until it was fixed and we had a cool house. I am so glad that I did! We had a great week here! Scarlett and I have been shopping with Grandma, out to dinner, to the pool with friends, play dates, to the zoo, etc. This will be the last time I get to see any of my friends until after the baby arrives. We have had so much fun. But we are ready to get back up to John this evening. Five days apart is just too much! Although, maybe not if there’s no A/C involved! J

Holy week from the great “depths” of the world batman! We had company in town last weekend, only to have the main water line back up due to tree roots. Well, on a holiday weekend, that was fun to try to get the rental agency to fix. Our company ended up leaving the next evening because we would have had to move out to a hotel for showers and such – not in the budget. The plumbers eventually did get the line unclogged and it is up to the owner to do something about the tree roots. There’s nothing like being able to poop in your own house again.
