It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I have to let you know that my beloved mother Maria passed away on June 27, 2010. I cannot express in few words what my mom meant to all that knew and loved her. As you can imagine the void is greatest in the hearts of her four children: Gus, Vicente, Patricia and Cecilia.

However, my niece, Victoria Richman, wrote a telling poem for my mom’s memorial. So I leave you with Tory’s words to paint a small picture of a most beautiful, beloved and forever missed woman that God gave us.

My Mom

Our Love for each other blossomed like a tree and grew everyday. Our hearts connected in every little way.
Today right now the flowers have reached a full bloom. Promise me I will see you soon.
You loved me in a way no one else knew how. Your love gave me strength only I would know.
In this time, I feel as though our hands are still intertwined. Nothing could stop me not even a line.
You’re a gem in our eyes. Our very own sweet little apple pie.
I wish we could just lie together. There would be nothing better.
Now you’re in the sky. I wish you could hold me when I cry.
You’re an angel with wings. But you’ve been my angel through everything.
You’re a present who we have all been able to have. We all share a memory of your laugh.
A heart of gold is what you had. Mama you’re right, you are too beautiful to be old.
You laughed as much as you breathed and loved as long as you lived. How long has it been?
I miss your eyes. They never criticized.
Your smile could outshine the moon and stars. You have given me a strong heart.
You were my cup of tea. Your love was there for all to see.
Our tree can grow no more. It has all the love it could ever store.
The flowers bloom all pretty and nice. I love you more than beans and rice.
