New Years 2013

Written by Patricia Elizabeth

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

Wow a new year and many of us think, a new start. Rightfully so because it is always refreshing to think we can have an opportunity to make positive changes to many of our less than lustrous decisions from the past.

So here it goes. What will we strive for in this upcoming year? Should we aim really high or just aim for small steps, which will lead to some changes but not lead to failing to complete task at hand?

I will aim for the top. I will change the very thing I know will bring about positive change. We all know what that is and how easy it can be done but we have a difficult time executing. What is the magic?  Portion control!!!! Yes we can eat most of what we like, not eat it all day long and everyday but we must control the amount. My new mantra is “the first bite is the best bite.” After that initial bite your mouth gets accustomed to the taste and it becomes numbed so therefore it is all empty calories from that point on. Of course we must eat our veggies and fruits for good health.

In the past my mantra use to be, “nothing tastes as good as being thin feels.” Unfortunately that isn’t working once you pass a certain point. But hey, we have to start somewhere and here is my start. I will keep you posted.

Share what your resolution or goals are for this year. I like goals because resolution sounds like I too formal and too analytical and life is too serious in other parts of life so I will go with the more chilled approach.

Keeping you posted.

Ciao for now.

Egg on your face No Hair

Written by Patricia Elizabeth

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

Many moons ago I remember making various at-home concoctions to put on my skin, face and hair. Here is a home remedy with proven great results. Maybe in your youth you read about eggs and how good they are for you. Then in the 70’s they were bad. Now they are good again for you both inside and out.

Here is a real simple cost effective way to strengthen your lovely tresses. Take two egg yokes. Save the whites for your morning omelet. Break the yokes and gradually add olive oil till you create a creamy consistency. Simply apply this cream to your hair and leave it in your hair for about 30 minutes.

Egg on your face

We just told you about using egg yokes on your hair. Now you have the option of saving the whites for your morning omelet. But if you could find the time to relax for 20 to 30 minutes during the weekend I have another great suggestion. Instead of eating the egg whites take a fork and lightly beat the whites till they start to form little bubbles on top. Then take a brush and brush the egg whites on your face. Once it starts to dry apply a second coat, repeat the process.

Chicken Chips

Pet Health Food

Written by Patricia Elizabeth

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

Our little pooches love to have their snacks. However they also need their snacks between meals to keep their blood sugar in balance. I bet you thought only you got those 3 o’clock munchies. Not at all it is just the body telling you time to fuel up. Well our little Chias and all Furbabies also need that mid morning, mid-day snack or just a “job well done” treat. We found it right here in the Maitland area at Hounds and Kitties at144 Lave Avenue in Maitland, Florida.

Hounds & Kitties is a true health food store for your furry friends. Owners, Bridget and Petal, carry a variety of whole and organic, additive free, filler free foods for your Furbabies. Gigi and Lola love going to visit their new market and friends at Hounds & Kitties as they get to sample some of the products. This week we purchased Chicken Doggie Chips. These are round crisp little chips made up of USDA boneless white chicken breast. These delectable little morsels are slowly dehydrated therefore capturing all the nutrients and enzymes the kids need. Any excess visible fat is first removed so you don’t have worry about expanding waistlines or empty calories.

Hounds & Kitties has a plethora of resources to help keep you friends healthy and to help your senior Furbabies.

Check out Gigi & Lola’s blog for more information on other great finds from Hounds & Kitties and other places around town at http://adventuresofgigilola.blogspot.com/

See you soon,

Thakoon Panichgul, born in Thailand and immigrated to the United States at the age of 11 started his fashion career as a fashion writer. It was here where the fashion interest was sparked. Thakoon decided to gain some formal training and enrolled in the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York City. Three years later he launched his first ready-to-wear line. His style was quickly noticed and has been described as “timelessly feminine” and “as romantic and sensual as they are modern and innovative.”
