So I’m definitely not a member of the Mommy-to-be club yet. But it seems like the preggo bumps are popping like popcorn everywhere I look. Maybe I’m alone in this one, but one of the first pre-pregnancy questions that pops into my head is what the heck am I going to look like pregnant and do I have to wear those tent like maternity clothes? Well the answer is, oh HECK no! Not if Marta and Elise from Moody Mamas have a say in the matter. Can I get an “Amen” sisters?

During a recent Google session, I came across a unique website whose big push is helping new Moms connect with jobs that fit a family-comes-first vision.  Mom Corps was the brain child of Allison O’Kelly who had children after launching her successful corporate career. Juggling time at the work place with family turned out more difficult a transition than she expected. However, she did know her family was a priority, her career was a desire and employers were still in search of talented employees. And, Viola! She developed the plan for a very successful business which is now a franchise.

My best high school friend, Trisha, just had her baby shower. I hadn’t been to one in a little while and this was the first one post-wedding vows. So, needless to say, I do have “babies on the brain” lately. She received the Jeep Overland Sport Jogging Stroller and I was pleasantly surprised with how cool this was. My husband who amazingly drove me across numerous state lines, Washington DC traffic and then waited in the car till I was done Oohing! and Aahing! over baby things actually got to see this gift and even he was pretty impressed by the design and features.

Here come the holidays Hot Mamas!!

Put down the Halloween candy.  Remove it from its hiding spot.  Well, leave just few pieces in the freezer for a rainy evening snack, but remove all other from your home!

With the start of the holidays bringing candy, desserts, excess plate sizes, and many many alcoholic beverages (because the entire family will be within arms’ reach within some point), exercise will be your sanity keeper.  Whether you are pregnant or a new mommy, exercise will play more of a role than just physical health happiness to you this season, it will help you keep your sanity.

Continue walking, jogging, or running; add distance or increase your time while you are at it.  If it’s too cold out to do this comfortably and you are not a gym member or treadmill owner, then we are about to get creative.  Walk the mall or other indoor enjoyable place.  If home is your only option then follow this week’s exercise plan.

This week’s task:

Grab a stopwatch, timer, phone clock, etc.  You will be doing 30 second intervals with 15 second rests.  Everyone can do this; you can march in place with high knees as the cardio if needed.  Perform the exercise for 30 seconds and take 15 seconds to catch your breath and prepare for the next.  Take a 2 minute rest at the end and then begin the entire set again.  If you can get a third set in, go for it!

Ready?  Set?   GO!!!

AshleyThe ladies of MSC would like to introduce you to our contributing writer, Elizabeth MacDonald, from Savannah, Georgia. Once you decide to have a baby, it is all that consumes your mind. I mean 24 hours a day. It’s something about being a girl. So when I decided (yes “I” – not we...John took some convincing) to start trying for a baby and it didn’t happen right away, life got tough. After about a year and medical help, we finally had the great news that a baby had been made!
